The Rock Island Trail in the Peoria, Illinois area is a 26-mile public rail-to-trail spanning from Alta up to Toulon, connecting seamlessly to a 13-mile paved southern extension known as the Rock Island Greenway. The route is split into two distinct sections ideal for walking, running, and biking.

The trail is split into two halves that meet at the Alta Road Trailhead just north of Peoria:

The Rock Island Greenway (Southern Section): This part is 13 miles long. It runs from the Peoria Riverfront up to Alta. It is fully paved with asphalt and has a city feel. It passes parks, a cemetery, and local shops.

The Rock Island State Trail (Northern Section): This part is 26 miles long. It runs from Alta to the small town of Toulon. It is made of crushed stone. It is managed as an Illinois State Park.
